RoadworthyInspections and Certificates

Are you looking for a roadworthy certificate (RWC)? At AutoTest Service Centre, we provide same-day roadworthy inspections and RWCs for all vehicle makes and models. Our Eltham workshop provides services for customers across Melbourne’s north-east, including Research, Montmorency, Greensborough and Templestowe.

An RWC is a legal requirement if you’re looking to buy, sell or re-register a vehicle, or to clear a police defect. Roadworthy certification is also important to ensure that all vehicles on the road have a basic level of mechanical safety.

As a VicRoads Licensed Vehicle Tester, we are fully authorised to carry out roadworthy inspections and provide roadworthy certificates.

Roadworthy Inspections

A roadworthy inspection is designed to ensure that all essential vehicle components are in the correct working order for safe road use. The inspection includes:

  • Wheels and tyres
  • Brake, steering and suspension systems
  • Windscreen and windows
  • Vehicle structure
  • Seat and seat belts
  • Lights and reflectors
  • Other safety-related items

A roadworthy inspection does not guarantee the mechanical reliability of a vehicle. It also doesn’t include non-essential components like air conditioning or the cosmetic condition of the vehicle.

If your vehicle passes a roadworthy inspection, you will receive an RWC on the spot. If your vehicle fails the inspection, you will have seven days to fix the defect and have it re-inspected. If it’s not fixed within that seven-day period, a full new inspection will be required.
